Ottawa grandfather gets $100,000 surprise

A 74-year-old Ottawa man knew he had won, playing the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation's Encore, he just didn't know how much.

"At first I thought I had won $100," said Gerald Bailey, as he picked up his winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. "When the cashier said I had actually won $100,000, I couldn’t believe it."

The retiree matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order on the October 25 Lotto Max draw.

"I never expected to win this much," said Bailey, a married father and grandfather. "This is great."

The winning ticket was purchased at Rexall on Carling Avenue in Ottawa.
